Following last year’s success of Community Sports, we’re repeating the taster sports sessions on Saturday 14th June, from 12 noon at Victory Hall and Norwood Playing Field, Somersham.

If you’ve ever fancied trying table tennis, croquet, mixed netball, BMX and skatepark skills, street dancing, freestyle and Rock n Roll, wheelchair challenges, badminton, family rounders, curling, ballroom dancing, fun runs/relays, street snooker, or more… then you’re in luck!

There’s even a Fun Splash session at Whitehall Swimming Pool (call Somersham 840966 to book).

This is a great chance for you to try out a new sporting curiosity – at just £1 per sport (or a bargain £2.50 for a day ticket to access all the sports). There’s also a discount for families. Under 12s must be accompanied by an adult. All sports will be finished by approximately 5pm.

And to give that nod to Commonwealth, Somersham Fun Highland Games will also take place from 12 noon, with The Lone Piper to help you get into the sporting mood.

So, put your sports shorts on (or kilt!), dust off those trusty trainers, and try something new!

You can download our Community Commonwealth Sports flyer (PDF/1.06Mb), with details of exactly what’s on, and when!

‘Go For Gold’ by unleashing your inner athlete at Sports For All

Ever wondered what Zumba or Tang Soo Do are? Do you want to try Squash, Netball or Archery?

Well, now’s your chance, as Ed Procter brings ‘Sports For All’ to this year’s Somersham Carnival with a day of taster sessions on Saturday 16th June in venues across Somersham. You never know, you could end up ‘Going For Gold’ in your new-found sport at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil!

Other sporting taster sessions include Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Skatepark skills, Wheelchair challengers, Cricket, Tag Rugby, Disco Dancing, Bowls and more!

For activity details, timetables and venues, download the full Sports For All Programme* (PDF, 532Kb)

Starting from 8am and lasting until 4pm, you can join Ed and a host of other sports and fitness coaches in taster sessions, costing just £1 per sport or £2.50 for a day ticket to access all sports (family discounts available).

There’s also a 2km Family Fun Run with medals for winners in each age group – race numbers available in Somersham schools or the library (or contact Ed Procter on 01487 841021).

Sporting champions will also be available to share the secrets of their success.

Plus, for £1 you can create your own Olympic-style torch (no real flames though!) for you to use in the Carnival Day Parade on 23rd June. Crafts are kindly organised by the First Step Playgroup in the Scout Hut.

*The organisers reserve the right to alter the sporting activities, time or locations where necessary at short notice. Please check on the day to avoid any inconvenience.
