Thursday 21st June sees St John’s Church in Somersham play host to this year’s Proms Concert – a joint concert arranged by the Carnival Committee and the Friends of Somersham Parish Church.

The evening starts at 7:30pm and will include Prom favourites Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and many many more songs and tunes.

Somersham Town Band and Pidley Male Voice Choir will be performing. They will be joined by guests Edward Tomanek (a 9yr old organist) and Jennifer Thomson (soprano), for what will be a truly unmissable night.

You can get hold of tickets for the event in advance from Mary’s Tea Rooms (adults £6.50, children £3.00) or alternatively on the door (adults £7.50, children £3.00). Interval refreshment is included in the cost of the ticket.

Our theme this year, to tie in with a certain other spectacular UK event, is “GOING FOR GOLD”!!

For all you budding “Olympians” this is your chance to look the part – anything goes! – from the original Olympians (but no total nudity please!), through to the baggy white shorts and flannels of the 1930’s…. to the modern day lycra!!

Not interested in sport?

Get out that gold lurex, dig out those Bet Lynch style earrings and anything totally tasteless for a bit of fun, or be Kanye West singing “Gold Digger” with his rappers in gold chains for a Day!! Old Yukon Gold Panners … this way please!

From ancient golden civilisations, re-create Tutankhamun’s tomb. Gold was first worn by humans in 3000BC!

Be a UK Banker, if you dare …. Where did they put our GOLD?
