Scarecrows Shannon and Kaelie took part in this year's 'Farming and Rural Living' theme.

The Eastern Daily Press (EDP) has published an article reporting on the 2008 Somersham Carnival. This year’s theme was ‘Farming and Rural Living’ and resulted in lots of scarecrows – including a Worzel Gummage and Aunt Sally!

The article quotes Theresa Baird, Carnival Secretary, as saying:

“We probably had about 2,500 people but unlike last year when people went home because of the rain, this year they stayed and some of them were still enjoying the sunshine when we were clearing up at 7pm”

The Carnival Princess Millie Holbrook was joined by her attendants Lily Steward and Sophie Anderson.

MP for North West Cambridge, Shailesh Vara helped to judge some of the competitions.
